Mrs. Caroline E. Wallace died at her home in Goldfield, October 11th, at 6:30 a. m. She was born in Hague, Warren County, New York, July 13, 1829. She was united in marriage to Joseph A. Wallace, May 8th, 1849. To this union were born four children—Thomas Baxter of Reinbeck, Iowa; Effie J., who died in 1882; Charlotte L., living at the home in Goldfield, and Chas. W. of Clear Lake, Iowa.

In the spring of 1854 they moved west and settled in Carroll county, Ill., where in 1860 they united with the Methodist Episcopal church then being organized at Argo, under the pastorate of Wm. A. Cross of Rock River conference. In the fall of 1882 they moved to Morrison, Grundy Co., Iowa, where they united with the M. E. church of that place where she was an active member in church work until her health failed. In 1904 they moved to Goldfield, Iowa, her late home, from which she has passed from this to a Brighter Home to which her life companion; Bro. Wallace, had preceded her on Jan. 20th, 1914.

She had been an invalid for many years and death to her meant release from the prison of time to the open air of eternity.

After a brief prayer in the home the funeral party proceeded to the Methodist church, where the services were conducted by the Rev. A. J. Tritt, retiring pastor.

She was laid to rest by her husband's side in Glenwood cemetery.
