Henry John Kepper was born January 31, 1914, near Barney, North Dakota, to Charles and Mamie Kepper. The family moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa, in 1917. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1932. He was in the CCC group from 1935 - 1937. He married Viola Finn on December 26, 1940, in Belmond. He was an auto mechanic in Renwick and Eagle Grove, retiring in 1979 from Umthun Trucking after 16-1/2 years as a diesel mechanic. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Fourth Degree.

Henry John Kepper died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at the Clarion Care Center at the age of 84. Survivors include his daughter, Sheila Vonder Embse, and husband, Charles; one son, Mike Kepper, and wife, Marcia; four grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and two brothers, Ed Kepper, and Charles Kepper. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eileen Tegland; and his wife, Viola on January 26, 1995.

The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 30, 1998, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eagle Grove, at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Wayne Droessler officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Visitation will be held Wednesday (today) from 3 - 5 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. There will be a Knights of Columbus Prayer
Service at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Willim Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, is in charge of arrangements.
