Mrs. Clark A. Lee, 82, Eagle Grove, Is Victim of Illness

EAGLE GROVE—Mrs. Clark A. Lee, 82, died at her home after a lingering illness Friday.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Wilson chapel Monday in charge of the Rev. A. S. Kilbourn of the Congregational church. Burial will be made in Rose Hill cemetery.

She is survived by the husband, a pensioned North Western conductor, and by two daughters, Mrs. Fred P. Foll, and Mrs. Will C. Hathaway in Eagle Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Lee have been residents of this city for many years.

MRS. C. A. LEE DIED FRIDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Clark A. Lee were held at the Wilson Chapel, Monday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, precluded by services at her late home, her pastor Rev. Albert S. Kilbourn officiating. Miss Eloise Osman sang two beautiful solos, "Nearer My God to Thee," and "Going Home." The pall bearers, were three sons of Mrs. Lee's sister at Burt—Curtis, Merwyn and Clifford Holding, and three sons of Mrs. Lee’s brother at Farnhamville –Earl, Frank and Lawrence Skinner.

Burial was in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Clark A. Lee, after several years of declining health, was suddenly taken very ill June 30, 1940. From this illness she never recovered and passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 1940, at 1:28 p. m., at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 12 days. She remained conscious to the end.

Mrs. Lee was born in Freeport, Iowa, March 15, 1858. When she was fourteen years old, she moved with her parents to Marryton, Mich. She was married to Clark A. Lee, August 14, 1876. They came to Farnhamville, Iowa, by covered wagon in 1878. To this union were born three children—Vernon, Maude and Jessie. From Farnhamville the family moved to Jewell in 1890 and came to Eagle Grove in 1895. Shortly after coming here she grieved the loss of her son, Vernon who passed away Jan. 6, 1897 at the age of 19 years.

Mrs. Lee leaves to mourn her death, her husband, Clark A. Lee; two daughters, Mrs. Maude Hathaway and Mrs. Jessie Foll; three grandchildren, Lee Foll of Des Moines, Marjorie Foll of Eagle Grove, Clayton Hathaway of Colfax, and one great grandchild, Gary, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Foll, and many loving friends.

She was a very faithful and consistent Christian to her God and church. A member of the Congregational faith from early childhood.

Her early work in life, she served as a capable school teacher in both Michigan and Iowa. To her family, which she was blessed to have so near her these many years, she gave her love, kindness, and sincere devotion. During her illness she never expressed by either word or action any impatience or complaint, leaving this life with a smile on her face to meet her Savior and loved ones in Heaven.

Unknown to Mrs. Lee, a sister, Mrs. James Holding of Burt, Iowa, passed away the 9th of December. Mrs. Lee was the last of her family to pass beyond the Heavenly portals.

Boettscher [Boettcher], and Curtis Holding, all of Burt; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Holding, and Mr. and Mrs. Merwyn Holding, Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Skinner, Robert Skinner, Mrs. and Mrs. Frank Skinner, Mrs. Ruth Swearinger [Swearingen] and daughter Leona, Kenneth Swearinger [Swearingen], Leona Swearinger [Swearingen], Lawrence Skinner and Miss Myrna Skinner, all of Farnhamville.
