Gilbert Lawson died Tuesday morning in a Fort Dodge hospital where he had been a patient for a short time. Mr. Lawson had been in failing health for some years, and two years ago suffered the amputation of one leg.
He is survived by his wife, one son Colburn of Milwaukee, Wis., three grandchildren and five sisters, Mrs. Fred Hobus of Shelby, Mrs. Francis Horn and Mrs. Frank Boggs of Clarion, Mrs. Pearl Schueller of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Fred Gates of Ames.
Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Evangelical Lutheran church, with interment in Rose Hill Cemetery The pastor Rev Kenneth Torvik will officiate.

Obituary
Gilbert A. Lawson, born February 4, 1885 to Andrew and Carrie Lawson at Ellsworth, Iowa, died at a Fort Dodge hospital Tuesday, May 5, 1953.
He attended public schools at Ellsworth. As a young man he served as a railroad telegrapher. For several years he was in the meat business with his father and brothers at Eagle Grove.
In 1918 [1916], he married Rose Paker [Packer] of Lake Park. One son, Coburn, now of Kenosha, Wisconsin, was born to them. His wife, Rose died in 1922.
Mr. Lawson traveled widely throughout Northern Iowa the past twenty-five years as a salesman of sweeping products, and was well known in this area.
In 1923 he married Marie Olson of Eagle Grove, who also served as a mother to his child.
Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at Ellsworth, he was for many years, until he died, a faithful member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church. Two years ago he was hospitalized, with complications that led to the amputation of one leg, a great loss to one so active as he.
Survivors are his wife Marie, his son Coburn, three grandchildren and five sisters: Mrs. Pearl Schueller of Denver, Colo.; Juel, Mrs. Fred Gates of Ames, Mable, Mrs Fred Bobus [Hobus] of Shelby, Carolyn, Mrs. Francis Horn of Clarion: L’Vira, Mrs Frank Boggs of Clarion. Beside his parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death; Ben, Lewis, Anna and Marie.
Funeral services will be at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church, Kenneth H. Torvik. Pastor, Friday at 2:00, with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
