Ben Lawson died Saturday morning at Lake Mills, Iowa, after a two day illness. Mr. Lawson was employed as a butcher in Lake Mills. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Kubitschek and Nastier funeral home, in charge of Rev. T. J. Severtson.
Obituary
John Bernhard Lawson was born to parents, Andrew and Carrie Lawson at Rochelle, Ill., and died at Lake Mills, Iowa. He received the Christian baptism, was instructed in the Christian Faith.
He moved with his family from Rochelle, Ill., to Ellsworth, Iowa, and later came to Eagle Grove. He followed the occupation of butcher and meat-cutter, and worked at Eagle Grove, Fort Dodge, Spirit Lake and Lake Mills. His parents and one sister passed away before him, He is now survived by two brothers, Lewis of Council, Bluffs, and Gilbert of Eagle Grove. Also by six sisters, Mrs. Pearl Schueller of Hayfield, Minn.; Mrs: Anna Roach of Eagle Grove; Mrs. Julia Gates of Nevada; Mrs. Mabel Hobus of Council Bluffs; Mrs. Caroline Schultz of Clarion; and Mrs. Elvira Boggs of Clarion, and by nephews and nieces as well as by many friends.
Ben never married. He was a cheerful person, kindhearted and helpful, and he was always ready to help anyone in need. He worked at his occupation faithfully. It was always a pleasure to meet Ben when he visited Eagle Grove.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Kubitschek and Kastler funeral home, with Rev. T. J. Severtson in charge. Burial was made in the family lot of the Rose Hill cemetery.
