Mrs. Dagny Elsie Keen, the daughter of Andres and Martine Thorvaldson Anderson, was born on November 4, 1896 at Eidsvold, Norway. She grew up and attended school in Norway. Dagny was married to Martin H. Keen in Oslo, Norway. They came to the United States and settled in the Thor area in 1917. The family lived and farmed near Thor. They retired and moved to Thor in 1952. Mr. Keen died on May 24, 1979.

Dagny was a long-time member of the Ullensvang Lutheran Church and was active in the ALCW and the Church Circle. She was also a charter member of the Thor American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of the Sons of Norway.

Mrs. Keen had been a resident of the North Care Center in Humboldt since August of 1980 and had been a patient at the Humboldt County Hospital since December 26, 1981. She died at the Humboldt County Hospital on Friday evening, February 12, 1982 at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 8 days.

She is survived by two daughters, Bernice, Mrs. Wendell Reichter of Goldfield; Mabel, Mrs. Wayne Nelson of rural Goldfield; three sons, Lloyd Keen of Minneapolis, Minn.; Duane Keen of Spencer, Iowa; Richard Keen of Storm Lake, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Elsa Helgreud of Norway, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son and a daughter.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dagny Keen, 85, of Thor, were held on Tuesday, February 16, 1982 at the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor. Rev. Timothy P. Larson officiated and burial was in the East Ullensvang Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.
