Mrs. Vera Margaret Nelson, the daughter of William and Hilda Anderson, was born at Hallock, Minnesota on May 20, 1915. She attended school at Edmore, North Dakota. On January 14, 1945, she was united in marriage with Marvin Nelson of Thor at Devils Lake, N. Dakota. To this union were born five children, Bruce, Kevin, Corinne, Nancy and Brian. The family lived in Thor, where Mr. Nelson was a carpenter. He died in 1968. Vera was a longtime and faithful member of the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Nelson died early Saturday morning, February 6, 1982, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She attained the age of 66 years, 8 months and 16 days. She is survived by three daughters and two sons; Bruce Nelson of Cedar Falls; Karen Nelson of Des Moines; Corinne Nelson of Des Moines; Nancy, Mrs. Keith Knowles of Decorah, Iowa; and Brian Nelson of Eagle Grove; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Anderson of Minneapolis, Minn.; Laura, Mrs. Selmar Overbo of Devils Lake, N. Dakota; Joyce, Mrs. Melford Hoime of Larimore, N. Dakota; four brothers, Carl Anderson of Minneapolis, Minn. Clifford Anderson of Sagola, Michigan; Orville Anderson of Grand Forks, N. Dakota; Glenn Anderson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Mildred.

Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Nelson were held on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1982 at 2 p.m. at the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor. Rev. Timothy P. Larson officiated and burial was in the North Lawn Cemetery at Fort Dodge. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove on Monday.
