Edwin Julian Korslund
June 24, 1895 --- February 8, 1982

Edwin Julian Korslund, the son of Andrew and Martina Langseth Korslund, was born on June 24, 1895 in Norway Township near Thor, Iowa. He attended the rural schools and grew up on the Korslund farm near Thor. Edwin was united in marriage with Clara Marie Foss. To this union were born four children, Allen, Jeannette, Lois and Mary. The family lived and farmed in Humboldt County, rural Eagle Grove. After Edwin and Clara retired from farming, they continued to live on the farm until moving to Ames, where Edwin had been a resident of the North Grand Care Center for the past several months.

He died at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames on Monday afternoon, February 8, 1982, having attained the age of 86 years, 7 months and 14 days. Edwin was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove and a long-time member of the Evergreen Sporting Association.

He is survived by his wife, Clara of Ames; one son, Allen Korslund of rural Eagle Grove; three daughters, Jeannette Korslund of Ames; Lois Korslund of Columbia, Mo.; Mary Korslund of Blacksberg, Va.; four grandsons; one great-grandson; a brother, Otis Korslund of Carrollton, Mo. and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Herbert and two sisters, Alice Pederson and Cora Torsdahl.

Private family services were held on Thursday, February 11, 1982 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Kenneth R. Torvik officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
