TITONKA – Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Jensine Godfredson who died Wednesday night following a long illness.

Mrs. Godfredson was stricken with paralysis 16 years ago and since that time she has been a bedfast invalid. She was 91 years old.

Jensine Sorenson was born at Langeland, Denmark, April 6, 1848. She received all of her education in the old country. She came to the United States in 1884, to care for her sister's motherless children. She was married March 24, 1885, to Martin Godfredson Wright county. Two children were born, Lena of Titonka and Chris, deceased. The family lived near Goldfield and in 1910 came to Titonka.

Mrs. Godfredsen is survived her daughter, Miss Lena Godfredsen of Titonka, four stepchildren, Mrs. Rena Wallace of Byers, Colo., Rasmus Godfredsen of Goldfield, Mrs. Lizzie Williams of Pleasantville, Mrs. Vera Ayer of Keokuk, one sister, Mrs. Rasmus Petersen of Titonka, three grandsons, Wilbur Godfredsen of Lone Rock, Harold Godfredsen of Lakota, and Ernest Godfredsen of Forest City. There are two great-grandchildren.

EARLY RESIDENT LAID TO REST
HERE ON SUNDAY

Jensena Sorenson was born in Langland, Denmark, April 6, 1848. She received her education there and was confirmed into the Lutheran faith to which she remained faithful until her death.

Miss Sorenson came to America to live in 1885 and came to Goldfield where she was united in marriage to Martin Godfredson. To this, union two children, Lena and Chris, were born. This pioneer couple spent 3 years near Eagle Grove where Mr. Godfredson was employed. In 1888 they moved northwest to Goldfield where they made a home on the unbroken prairies and shared life's joys and sorrows until the death of Mr. Godfredson in 1896. In 1909 the family moved to Titonka where they have resided since.

Mrs. Godfredson has been an invalid resulting from paralytic stroke for the last 16 and one half years. During all this time her deep and abiding faith sustained her. Death came to her on Wednesday, June 28, 1939, at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 22 days.

Left to survive her are: one daughter, Lena, of Titonka; one sister, Mrs. Rasmus Peterson of Titonka; three grandchildren, Harold of Lakota, Wilbur of Lone Rock and Ernest of Forest City, and also two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Titonka at the Methodist church, and burial was made at the Glenwood cemetery at Goldfield on Sunday, July 2. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Godfredson and Jessie Anderson of Goldfield attended the services at Titonka.
