Lewis Rasmussen Funeral Saturday
Funeral services were held for Lewis Rasmussen on Saturday afternoon at the Lake Lutheran church. Mr. Rasmussen lived in the Owl Lake neighborhood for many years, moving to Glendale, Calif., three years ago, where he died.

Obituary

Lewis H. Rasmussen was born on Dec. 3, 1872, at Langeland, Denmark and died at Glendale, Calif., March 1, 1943, at the age of 70 years, two months and twenty-six days. He received the Christian baptism and later confessed his Christian faith. He came to America in 1878, where he grew to manhood. On March 1, 1896, he was united in marriage to Miss Martha Jorgina Pehl. Mr. and Mrs. Rasmussen lived on their farm home in Lake township all but a few years which they spent in California, Kansas and at Hardy, until in 1940 they moved to Glendale, Calif., where he passed away from this life.

He is now survived by his wife and their seven children, as follows: four sons, John, Lyman, Alfred and Howard, and by three daughters, Mrs. Rose Rowley, Kanawha, Mrs. Alice Christensen, Glendale, Calif., and Mrs. Madelyne Popot, Cincinnati, Ohio, and by nineteen grandchildren. Also by four brothers, as follows: Peter and Anton, both of Goldfield; Fred of Wesley, and Nels of West Bend; also by three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Severson, Mrs. Annie Amerson and Mrs. Caroline Bardson all of Goldfield; and by a large number of near relatives, and many friends.

Lewis Rasmussen was a kindhearted and friendly man, a good and sympathetic husband and father, a helpful neighbor and a true friend. He was interested in the welfare of his neighborhood, in the state and nation. He exercised good judgment in these matters and he prospered. He loved his church and his God.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, March 6, from the Lake Lutheran church, where he held his membership before moving to Glendale. Burial was made in the Goldfield cemetery. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Private Arnold Rowley, Lincoln, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Papot, Cincinnati, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer J. Rowley, Kanawha, Ia.; Mrs. Martha Christensen, Latimer, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Severson, Ruthven, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Nels Rasmussen, West Bend, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rasmussen, Wesley, Ia.; also Mrs. L. H. Rasmussen and Mrs. Alice Christensen, Glendale, Calif., who accompanied the body from California.
