Jeanette Jean (Cuppett) Thurmond, daughter of David and Laura Cuppett, was born May 3, 1922 along with her twin sister, Jeanice Cuppett. They joined an older Brother, Paul Cuppett. Jeanette was raised and attended school in Dows, Iowa. She married Raymond Albert Thurmond March 24, 1939 in Northwood, Iowa. They lived and raised their children in Eagle Grove, Iowa where they also cared for her mother and sister for many years. Jeanette maintained the family home for many years after Ray’s passing in 1989. In January of 2018 she experienced a stroke while visiting family. She spent the next year and 8 months living at JC Manor in Jefferson City, MO, where she passed away peacefully September 14, 2019 at the age of 97.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, sister, great granddaughter (Morgan) and daughter in law (Berniece).

Jeanette was a faithful and active member of the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church. She delivered meals on wheels for several years. She retired from AGP (Boone Valley Coop). Jeanette enjoyed her garden and flowers. She loved to read, play cards and work puzzles. But most of all, Jeanette loved her family and friends, there are many happy memories spent in her company over the years. Jeanette had a quiet faith and grace that became apparent as you got to know her. She was always there to lend a hand, give wise advice, or just to listen.

She is survived by 4 children: Raymond (Linda) Thurmond-Des Moines, IA, Dennis Thurmond-Eagle Grove, IA, Janis (Jerry) Zatloukal-Sioux City, IA, Debra (Steve) Webb-Jefferson City, MO. 18 grandchildren: Theresa (David) Dickinson, Chris Thurmond, Cathy (Richie Robinson) Mitchell, Dennis Thurmond Jr, Lori (Rick) Fragola, Tammy (Chris) Pedersen, Russell (Sherlene) Washington, Randall (Julie) Washington, Theresa (Tom) Kist, Nancy Wells, Angela Lagasse, Jerry Zatloukal Jr, Nichole (Bryan) Williams, Jessica (Jeremy) James, Shawna (Derek) Summerford, Drew (Jennifer) Webb, Ashley (Shawn) Repp, Kaleb (Kayla) Webb, 36 great grandchildren and 36 great great grandchildren.
