Marilyn A. Bjornson, 69, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at her home in Eagle Grove. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 25, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove with the Rev. James Cunningham officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Marilyn Amelia Hallagan was born on September 24, 1935, on a farm west of Eagle Grove, the daughter of James Harold and Mildred Irene (DeWinter)
Hallagan. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1953.

On March 8, 1954 she married David E. Gunderson in Vermillion, South Dakota. They made their home in Eagle Grove and then moved to Fremont, Nebraska until returning to Eagle Grove in 1971. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1984. She then married Robert Bjornson, Jr., on March 23, 1985, at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove.

Marilyn was a member of the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove. She also enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, walking, playing cards, and spending time with family. Marilyn worked as a lab tech for Iowa Testing Labs for 28 years, retiring in 2000.

She is survived by her husband, Robert, of Eagle Grove; a daughter, Sharon Claude and her husband, Gerald, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; stepdaughters Jodi
Mericle, of Minnesota and Misty Pickering and her husband, Chad, of Eagle Grove; a stepson, Brian Bjornson, and his wife, Shelly, of Eagle Grove; grandchildren Christina and Christopher Claude, Jaime Bliesmer and Ryan Cellan, Kesha Kaufman and Jacob Dolan and Cotton and Maci Pickering; a step-great granddaughter, Hannah; brothers Carroll Hallagan of Eagle Grove and Michael Hallagan, of Summerville, S.C.; sisters Jeananne Schulte of Alleman and Janelle Clavey of Eagle Grove; step-mother Rose Hallagan of Eagle Grove; aunts Marie Gearhart of Eagle Grove and Lucille Anderson of Humboldt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, James, and her first husband. The Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove is in charge of the arrangements.
