Lorena Belle Stafford was born on January 4, 1918, the daughter of Elisha and Bessie Lee Stafford at Linn Grove, Iowa. She received her education in the Goldfield School System. Following her education, she worked as a housekeeper, helping to raise her family. She was united in marriage to Wallace (Bill) Larson on September 29, 1935, in the Baptist Church, Eagle Grove. She worked for Wilson Packing Company, and served as custodian and lunch server for Eagle Grove High School. They were owners of Easy Way Disposal for many years, and later owned and operated B & L Hobby Shop, all of Eagle Grove. After her husband's death in April of 1980, she was coordinator for the Senior Citizens Center in Eagle Grove. She retired in 1995. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove.Lorena Belle Larson died in her home on March 25, 1996, at the age of 78 years, 2 months, and 21 days. Survivors include her daughters, Wanda Rae Darland and husband, Robert, Bend, Oregon; Sherry (Shay) McGovern of Granite Falls, Washington; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford Stafford and wife, Doris, and Elgin Stafford and wife, Nellie, both of Washington state; and one sister, Joan Rickaby and husband, Skip, Washington state. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, one sister, and an infant daughter.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, March 30, 1996, at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove, with the Reverend Omar Pettersen officiating the 11 a.m. services. A private family burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home, Inc. of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
