OBITUARY

VERY REV. T. S. MCDERMOTT

The Very Rev. Terence Stephen McDermott, 76, the only American ever to head the worldwide Dominican Order of Friars Preachers–one of the largest religious orders in the Catholic Church–died yesterday in Lenox Hill Hospital.

After serving as head of the order's Province of St. Joseph, he served as vicar general and interim superior general of the order in 1954 and 1955.

His body will lie in state before the main altar of the Church of St. Vincent Ferrer, Lexington Ave. and 65th St., starting at 1:30 P.M. today. The office of the dead will be read at 8 o'clock tomorrow night and a Solemn High Mass of Requiem will be offered at 11 A.M. Monday.
