JESSIE LEE BURGESS
Jessie Lee Carstens was born on July 1, 1900, at Perry, Iowa. She received her education in the Perry school system. She was united to Thomas Burgess of Perry in June of 1927 at Perry. They lived in Perry for a short time before moving to Fort Dodge, Iowa where they owned and operated Tom's Ice Cream and Lunch. After retiring to Rogers, Ark. where they operated a drug store in nearby Pea Ridge, Ark., they came to Eagle Grove, Iowa in 1969. Thomas Burgess died in 1969. On December 18, 1991 Jessie passed away at the Villa Care Center, Fort Dodge, Iowa, at the age of 91 years, five months, and 17 days.

She leaves in passing two daughters: Dorothy (Mrs. Leo) Peterson of Eagle Grove, and Virginia (Mrs. John) Ahrens of Taos, New Mexico. Also surviving are six grandchildren. Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and several brothers and sisters, as well as a great grandchild, Brett Springer. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove.

Graveside services for Jessie Lee Burgess were held at 10 a.m. on Dec. 20, 1991 at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa. The Reverend Scott C. Hall of the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove, officiated. Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
