Casper Woman Passes Away

Mrs. Margaret DeWitt, 66, died Saturday at her home, 122 North Kenwood. She had been in failing health for some time.

Mrs. DeWitt was born Aug. 3, 1880, at Verona, Ill. While she was still a small child, the family moved to Iowa and settled near Fort Dodge.

She was graduated from the Eagle Grove, Ia., high school and entered nurses training at Kankakee, Ill., obtaining a degree as a registered nurse.

She was married to Harry [Perry] N. DeWitt, who survives, at Chicago on Nov. 3, 1906. Mr. and Mrs. Dewitt returned to Iowa, then came to Wyoming in 1915, homesteading near Parkerton. They lived near Parkerton until 1942, when they came to Casper.

Mrs. DeWitt was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic church.

Surviving are her husband and a son, James H. DeWitt of Casper, two grandchildren. Peggy and James H. DeWitt, Jr., two sisters, Mrs. Myron Spencer of Parkerton, and Mrs. A. J. McDermott of Eagle Grove, la., two nephews and a niece.

Funeral services and interment will be in Casper early in this week. Announcement will be made by the Bustard funeral home.

MRS. MARGARET DE WITT Recitation of the rosary for Mrs. Margaret DeWitt will be held Tuesday at 8 p. m. at the Bustard funeral home. Requiem high mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a. m. from the St. Anthony's Catholic church by the Very Rev, T. F. O'Reilly. Interment will be made in Highland cemetery.

MRS. MARGARET DeWITT

Recitation of the rosary for Mrs. Margaret DeWitt was given Tuesday evening at the Bustard chapel. Requiem high mass was celebrated by the Very Rev. Thomas F. O'Reilly Wednesday morning at the St. Anthony's Catholic church. Interment was made in Highland cemetery. Pallbearers were James R. Wilson. Fred Melburg, Arthur Saxton. Art Melburg, W. J. Farmer, and H. W. Hawks.

Margaret Hughes, daughter of James and Jane Hughes, was born in Morris, Ill., August 3, 1881. At an early age she moved with her parents to a farm near Badger, Ia.

After a few years, they moved to Liberty Township near Goldfield and after the death of Mr. Hughes the family moved to Eagle Grove in 1897.

She graduated from Eagle Grove high school with the class of 1901. After teaching a few years in the rural schools of Wright county, she entered Nurses Training in Kankakee, Ill. and became, a registered nurse.

She married Perry N. DeWitt, on Nov. 3, 1906. They moved to Wyoming in 1915, where she resided until her death April 12, 1947 in Casper.

Funeral services were held in that city April 15. The Requiem High Mass was at St. Anthony's church and burial was in Memorial cemetery, Casper, Wyo.

Those who survive are her husband, Perry DeWitt, one son, James Hughes DeWitt, and two grandchildren Peggy and James DeWitt of Casper, Wyo., also two sisters, Mrs. Myron Spencer, Parkerton, Wyo., and Mrs. Dina McDermott of Eagle Grove, Ia., one niece, Mrs. Margaret Wiedenman, Eagle Grove, Ia., three nephews, Ray Spencer, Glenrock, Wyo., Wilkins Spencer, Winnett, Mont., and John Wesley, Hollywood, California.
