Obituary Albertus H. Maxon
Albertus H. Maxon was born on June 3, 1870, at Footvllle, Wis., the son of N. L. and Emma E. Maxon. Albertus Maxon died on June 29, 1939, aged 69 years and 26 days, at his home in Eagle Grove, after a long Illness.
Mr. Maxon came to Iowa with his parents while still a youngster, and grew up in the vicinity of Webster City. He received a good education in the schools of the community and was active in church work, becoming a member of the newly organized Church of Christ in 1893.
When he was 21, Mr. Maxon left his parents' farm and entered the barbering trade, a profession he followed for more than 40 years, having shops in Webster City, Woolstock, Eagle Grove and Williams.
In 1893, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Leonard, of Woolstock, and to this union were born three children: Harold and Ruth (Mrs. Reed Thompson), both of Webster City, and Arlene (Mrs. George C. Smith), of Cedar Rapids.
Mr. Maxon was married again in 1913 to Freda Bish of Webster City. To this union, six children were born: Keith, Clare, Thelma, Robert, Shirley and Larry. All reside in Eagle Grove.
Besides his wife, children and his aged mother, Mr. Maxon leaves two brothers, Thaddeus of Barrington, Ill., and Harry of Webster City; and a sister Mrs. Cora Knox, of Redlands, Calif., to mourn his passing.
Albertus Maxon was a kind husband and father, and will be missed sorely in the home and also the community of Eagle Grove, where he had resided for the past ten years.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Wilson's Chapel, in charge of Rev. Don Crewdson, of Webster City, and interment was in the family lot in Graceland cemetery at Webster City.
