Raymond Loughlin

Passed Peacefully Away at Eagle Grove Yesterday Morning.

Although not unexpected the news of the death of Raymond Loughlin cast a gloom over a good many homes here yesterday. He has been a long and patient sufferer and for months has fought against the hand or death but the grim monster won the battle and an exemplary young man succumbed to the inevitable.

Raymond Loughlin died at Eagle Grove at 4 o'clock, Thursday morning. He was born in Clarion January 14, 1886, and at the time of his death was twenty-two years and eight months old. At the age of fourteen his father died and since then Raymond has been the principal breadwinner for the family, a constant comfort and help to his mother. At the age of eight years he moved with his parents to Eagle Grove where they made their home until after the death of his father. Five years ago they moved back to Clarion and Raymond entered the employ of Stark Bros. where he remained until March 1907, when his health broke down. He went to Chicago, hoping that after a rest at the home of his brother Louis he would be able to resume his work in the store, but instead of gaining he continued to fail. In November he went to Colorado Springs to try a milder climate. Last August he came back to Eagle Grove, where his mother has tenderly cared for him since.

Raymond was a model young man and too much can not be said in praise of him. Even to the last he was cheerful and was always delighted when his Clarion friends visited him. It is a very sad case. Death is always sad, but it is extremely so when it claims as its victim so good a young man in the bloom of youth. Three years age his sister Genevieve died at the age of twenty-one of the same disease—tuberculosis of the stomach.

Raymond leaves his mother, sister Loretta and two brothers. Louis and Cyril and a large number of distant relatives and friends to mourn his early demise.

The funeral services will be held from the Catholic church at Eagle Grove Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, and the remains will be laid to rest beside his father and sister.

The whole of Clarion unites with the CLIPPER in extending sympathy to the bereaved family.

RAYMOND LOUGHLIN DEAD.

The death of Raymond Loughlin occurred at an early hour Thursday morning at Eagle Grove, after an illness of tuberculosis extending over a period of a year and a half. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church in Eagle Grove Saturday morning, with interment in the cemetery at that place, where the father and a sister are at rest.

Raymond Loughlin was born in Clarion on the 14th day of January 1886. The family afterwards moved to Eagle Grove and remained residents of that place until about five years ago, when they returned to Clarion and Raymond secured employment with Stark Bros. The father died at Eagle Grove and Raymond became the support and stay of the family while yet at an early age. He remained with Stark Bros, until the early part of 1907, when he was forced by poor health to give up his position. Then he went to Chicago and remained for a few months with his brother Louis, but continued to fail, and in the late fall he went to Colorado Springs, hoping that a milder climate would stay the ravages of the dread disease. This, too, proved unavailing and he was taken to Eagle Grove last August in order that he might spend the remainder of his days amidst the scenes of his childhood.

The death of this young man is peculiarly sad. First, the father fell a victim to the dread tuberculosis. Then a sister succumbed to the same disease. Three deaths, therefore, mark the progress of tuberculosis through this one family.

Friends of tbe family in this city will extend sincere sympathy in this sad hour.

M. F. Loughlin of Milwaukee, Wis., was a Clarion visitor the first of the week. Mr. Loughlin was called to Eagle Grove to attend the funeral of his nephew, Raymond Loughlin. He still retains his position in the First National bank of that city.

Death of Raymond Loughlin.

Altho not unexpected the death of Raymond Loughlin cast a gloom over this community last Thursday morning. It seemed as tho Death was unmerciful to call one so young and end a life so promising. Ray has been a patient sufferer for months being a victim of consumption. The end came peacefully and without a struggle.

The deceased was born in Clarion January 14, 1886, and at the time of his death was nearly twenty-three years old. He died here Thursday morning at four o’clock, October 8. His father's death occurred when Ray was fourteen and since that time he has been the support and aid of his mother. When about eight years of age the family moved to Eagle Grove and he has made his home here nearly all the time since.

Four years ago he entered the employ of a Clarion merchant when his health gave way. For a time he lived with his brother Louis at Chicago resting. He tried Colorado for a time but finding no relief he returned to Eagle Grove this summer and made his home with his loving mother. Three years ago his sister Genevieve died of the same disease.

Death is always sad and it seems more so in this instance. He was of a cheerful nature, kind and loving. He leaves a host of friends who mourn with the afflicted family.

Tbe mother, a sister, Loretta and two brothers, Louis and Cyril besides a large number of relatives to mourn his early demise.

Tbe funeral services were held Saturday from the Sacred Heart church. Rev. Father O'Brien having charge of the services.

The remains were laid to rest by loving hands in the Gethsemane cemetery in the family burial lot. The sympathy of all is extended tbe grief stricken ones.
