Prentiss Cyrus Larson was born February 19, 1911, the son of Samuel and Minnie Petersen Larson at Badger. He received his education in rural country school No. 7. He worked on the family farm, and also operated a gas station, north of Fort Dodge. He was united in marriage to Blanche Erb of Fort Dodge on April 2, 1940, at Blue Earth, Minn. Following the couple's marriage, he worked for Tobin Packing Company for four years. He returned to farming, and farmed southeast of Badger. He retired from farming in 1970, and worked for five years with the Erickson Manufacturing Company near Holmes. He and his wife later moved to the Friendship Haven Nursing Home in Fort Dodge. He was a member of the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.

Prentiss Larson was taken to the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge due to his failing health. He died at the hospital February 26, 1991, at the age of 80 years, and seven days. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Carol Byl; two brothers, Jay Larson and Jay Larson; and a sister, Joella Larson. He is survived by his wife, Fort Dodge; three sons, James, Cedar Falls, Robert, Fort Dodge, and Ken, Mobile, Ala.; one brother, Mervin, Marion; and two sisters, Mrs. Wesley (Gladys) Simpson, and Doris Thompson, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held February 28 at the Samuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Carlton Shaw officiating at the 10 a.m. services. Burial followed at Blossom Hill Cemetery, Badger. The Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
