OBITUARY
Mrs. AImina Ley
(By W. G. Muhleman)

Almina Youngheim was born Jan. 6, 1844 in Naperville, Ill. where she lived till she was 18 years old. She moved to Chicago, where she was married to David G. Ley, Sept. 22, 1867. Four children were born to this union, E. V. Ley of Houston, Tex., Mrs. R. S. Woodard of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Henry Ley of Hollister, Calif., and Mrs. Lottie Smith, who preceded her in death June 23, 1907. In 1870 the family moved from Chicago to a farm on White Fox creek in Wright county, where they stayed for seven years and then moved to a farm on Eagle creek, three miles north of Woolstock. About thirty years ago they moved to Eagle Grove. Mr. Ley died Jan. 30, 1918. For two years Mrs. Ley lived in California, but for the past twenty years she has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Woodard, in Eagle Grove. She has been in poor health for some time. She passed away July 29, 1924, at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 23 days.

She was converted in and joined the Baptist church in which she lived a Christian life. In 1893 she joined the Methodist church in Eagle Grove, in which she has been a consistent and devout follower of Christ. She was always faithful to the church and the services and was one of God's unselfish saints here on earth.

Services were held in her church on Thursday afternoon. The sermon was preached by her pastor, W. G. Muhleman, from the text found in Heb. 11 – 16 . Her body was laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery.

[Almina was the daughter of Augustus and Mary (Nye) Youngheim. Although her husband David G. Ley's cremains are interred in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove, Almina and David apparently divorced since David G. Ley married Grace Culberson on June 28, 1911 in Orange County, California; he was listed as divorced in the marriage application. Almina Ley's death certificate lists her as widowed.]
