The adopted infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Thede died on Sunday morning last. The little one was first taken with the "grip" and the disease developed into lung fever, baffling medical skill. The burial occurred at Rose Hill, the tender remains lining laid beside the mother, Mrs. Lugar who passed away only a few weeks since.

Two deaths in our city during the past week. Ole Johnson, aged 25 years, died from an attack of the grippe, and a child (whose mother was buried a few weeks since) died of colic and general debility. This child had been adopted by Carl Thede, and its death is a sore loss to him.

Mr. and Mrs. C. Thede this week adopted the infant child of Mrs. Sarah A. Lugar, deceased. We congratulate the father upon this selection, as the child will have a good christain home. They have named it Anna Lizzie M. Thede. It was christianed last Sunday in the Lutheran Church, Rev. E. Ridel performing the cermony.

[Rose E. Lugar was born on November 16, 1889. Her mother, Sarah Alice (Cooper) Hopkins Lugar died on December 16, 1889 when Rose was one month old. Her father was Harry Lugar. Rose was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Thede and given the name Anna Lizzie M. Thede. The baby died at three months of age, exactly two months after her birth mother's death from peritonitis; both are buried together in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove, Iowa;]
