July 5, 1907 ---- February 11, 1995

Louis Labus was born on July 5, 1907, the son of John and Vera Ritzoo Labus at Toledo, Ohio. He received his education in the Eagle Grove school system. He was united in marriage to Detta Labus [Vandetta Williams]. Later he married Dory Godfrey of Eagle Grove. He was employed for 15 years as a truck driver for Potgeter Grain. He moved to Des Moines in 1943, working as a self-employed truck driver. He then began working for the Polk County Sheriff's Department as a jailer. He retired, returning to Eagle Grove in 1970. While in Eagle Grove he drove the Senior Citizens Taxi for many years. He was living at the Clarion Health Care Center. He was a member of the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church.

Louis Labus died Saturday, February 11, 1995 and had attained the age of 77 years, 7 months, and 6 days. Survivors include his sister Mary Pohlman; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; ex-wife Vera; sons, Dick and Jean Labus; a brother, Andrew; and a sister, Ann Nervig.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 14, 1995 at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Reverend Omar Pettersen officiated the 2 p.m. service. Burial followed at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
