Milo Smith, 51, died at his home, 302 So. Washington, Ave., Wednesday, June 9, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the United Methodist Church in charge of Rev. Donald Glazier. Interment was in the cemetery at LaVerne.
Mr. Smith who was employed by Giese Construction, is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Victor Streeby, Eldon, two brothers and three sisters. Also three grandchildren.
Obituary
Milo Ivan Smith was born August 23, 1924, the son of Zeak and Mae Bordwell, Smith in Humboldt County, Iowa.
He received his education in the Livermore, Iowa School.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, as a paratrooper, with service in Europe. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to the Livermore area, and engaged in farming for a time.
For the past several years, he has worked on construction projects around the State, and more recently, with the Giese Construction Co. of Eagle in road construction.
He became disabled at work and had not worked since October, 1975.
Milo died at his home in Eagle Grove on June 9, after a long illness at the age of 51 years, 9 months and 16 days.
He is survived by his wife, Izola of Eagle Grove, and one daughter, Sandra, Mrs. Victor Streeby, Eldon, Iowa.
Also two brothers and three sisters: Dwight Smith, Newark, Ohio; Clarence Smith, Muscatine; Illean, Mrs. Harold Manser, Winterset; Rosemary, Mrs. Gerald Smith, Dakota City; Donna, Mrs. Donald Anderson, Hardy; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Milo was a member of the Methodist Church, the American Legion, and the V.F.W.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. Rev. Donald Glazier officiated, and burial was in the LuVerne Cemetery, LuVerne, Iowa.
