MADELINE T. THOMPSON

Madeline Teliene Langeland was born June 30, 1905 at Eagle Grove. Iowa, and was the daughter of Andreas and Thea Marie Torgersdtr Langeland. She attended grade school in Eagle Grove and graduated from Clarion High School. She went to Nursing School at Methodist Kahler Hospital in Rochester and then worked as a surgical nurse with the Mayo Brothers. Later she was a Clarion School and Wright County Nurse. On June 17, 1932, she was united in marriage with Lynn C. Thompson at Parker, S. D. Together they farmed the Thompson Family Farm, the oldest family farm in Wright County. Her husband died on January 1, 1988. In 1971, she moved to town. Since September of 1993, she had made her home at the Clarion Health Care Center. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and an active member of the Iowa Chapter of the American Cancer Society. She started the Wright County Loan Closet in Clarion.

Madeline Teliene Thompson died Thursday morning, July 18, 1996, at the age of 91 years and 18 days.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Rexford Thompson and wife, Joyce, EI Cajon, Calif., and Dr. Neale Thompson and wife, Jutta, Northfield, Minn.; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 12 brothers and sisters, her infant son, Raymond, and her husband.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 24, 1996, at First Lutheran Church in Clarion, Iowa, at 2 p.m. with Reverend Gerald Dyste officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.

Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of arrangements.

Madeline Teliene Thompson, 91, died Thursday, July 18, at the Clarion Care Center.

Funeral services were held from First Lutheran Church in Clarion on Wednesday, July 24, at 2 p.m. Rev. Gerald Dyste officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. Willim Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Madeline Teliene Langeland was born June 30, 1905, at Eagle Grove, the daughter of Andreas and Thea Marie Torgersdtr Langeland. She was the last of 13 children, most of whom were born in Norway. She attended grade school in Eagle Grove and graduated from Clarion High School. She attended nursing school at Methodist Kahler Hospital in Rochester and later worked as a surgical nurse with the Mayo Brothers. She was a Clarion School Nurse and Wright County Nurse.

On June 17, 1932, Madeline was united in marriage with Lynn C. Thompson. This union was blessed with three sons. They farmed the Thompson family farm, the oldest family farm in Wright County. In 1971, they moved into Clarion. Lynn died January 1, 1988. Since September of 1993, Madeline had made her home at the Clarion Health Care Center.

She was a member and faithful worker of First Lutheran Church and the Iowa Chapter of the American Cancer Society. She started the Wright County Loan Closet in Clarion.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Dr. Rexford Thompson and wife, Joyce, of El Cajon, California; and Dr. Neale Thompson and wife, Jutta, of Northfield, Minnesota; and five grandchildren.

Madeline was preceded in death by her parents; 12 brothers and sisters; an infant son, Raymond; and husband, Lynn.
