CLARION, IA. - Lynn C. Thompson, 80, of Clarion died of cancer Friday in Rochester, Minn.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church. Mr. Thompson was past director of the National Corn Growers Association, North Iowa Breeders Association, Wright County Farm Bureau and Belmond Cooperative Creamery.

Survivors include his wife, Madeline; two sons, Dr. Rexford L. of San Diego, Calif., and the Rev. Neale C. of Brandt, S.D.; and five grandchildren.

LYNN C. THOMPSON

Lynn C. Thompson, 80, lifelong Clarion area resident, died on Friday, January 1, 1988 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota where he had been a patient since Wednesday. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the First Lutheran Church with Pastor William Granger officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery and the Eyler-Willim Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Gary Brandt provided the special music. Honorary bearers were: Harold Henry, Chester Hill, Kenneth Severson, Kenneth Tillman, Everett and Leo Woodley. Casket bearers were E.L. Attwooll, Ed L. Campbell, Robert Orcutt, Harlan Poolman, Dr. Lowell Skinner and Melvin Waldon.

Lynn was born on September 12, 1907 on a farm north of Clarion and he was the son of Cornelius and Edna Dawson Thompson. He received his early education in the county schools and graduated from Clarion High School in 1926. On June 17, 1932 he was married to Madeline T. Langeland at Parker, South Dakota. They farmed on his family farm, the oldest farm in Wright County still in the same family, retired on the farm and in 1971 moved to Clarion.

During his farming years he was very active in various farm related groups and had served as a director for the following organizations: North Iowa Breeders Association, Wright County Farm Bureau, Iowa State Brand Creameries and for twenty years was the Chairman of the Board of the Belmond Cooperative Creamery. He also was a member of National Corn Growers Association, Holstein-Freshian Association and Clarion Farmers Elevator Cooperative. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and had served as a Deacon and Secretary-Treasurer.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dr. Rexford L. Thompson of San Diego, California and Rev. Neale C. Thompson of Brandt, South Dakota, and five grandchildren. His parents and an infant son, Raymond preceded him in death.
