Dorothea Thomasdatter Langeland Orsland
25 March 1830 ---- 18 December 1926

Dorothea Langeland was born at Langeland, Skjold, Norway March 25, 1830, and died at her home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, Dec. 18, 1926, aged 96 years, 8 months and 23 days.

She was married to Jacob Orsland June 24, 1851 and eight children were born to this union. Mr. and Mrs. Orsland came to the U.S.A. in 1873 and lived near Sheldahl, Iowa, about three years after which they moved to Webster county, living there until 1901, when they came to Eagle Grove and where Mr. Orsland passed away Nov. 2, 1912, at the age of 94 years, both of these early settlers having reached an unusual age. One little son who died at the age of 13 passed on before his parents. The seven living children are Lizabeth Orsland, Mrs. Martha Holm, Mrs. Lena Torresdahl, Hans, Tom, Henry and Jens Orsland. She leaves 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, besides a great number of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the home at 1 o'clock and from the East Side Lutheran church at 1:30. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
