W. PLASTERER DIES TUESDAY IN HOSPITAL
Was Formerly City Assessor And Long Time Resident Of Eagle Grove

Walter Plasterer, 69, died at the state hospital in Cherokee Tuesday morning. Pneumonia was given as the immediate cause of his death although he had been in failing health for sometime.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, January 6 in the Kastler Funeral home. Rev. Walter Ross will be in charge. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery. Mr. Plasterer is survived by his wife, one son George of Waterloo, and two grandsons, Philip and Roger also three sisters Mrs. Harry Toot and Mrs. Paul Remel of Chambersburg, Pa., and Mrs. Mary Lahman of Harrisburg, Pa., and one brother Howard J. of Shippensburg, Pa.

Mr. Plasterer became sick last fall and in November was taken to the hospital at Cherokee where his condition has grown steadily worse until his death Tuesday. Mrs. Plasterer who has been living in the home at 415 S. Commercial is also in poor health and may be unable to attend the funeral.

Mr. Plasterer was for a number of years city assessor in Eagle Grove. He was a member of the First Congregational church and a regular attendant during his life time here. He was also active in the organization of Pennsylvania residents of Iowa and attended their picnics where ever held in the state.

Walter Conrad Plasterer, son of George and Mary Plasterer, was born at Shippenburg, Pennsylvania September 25, 1880. He attended rural school near Shippensburg. He with his family moved to Chambersburg while still a child and it was there he grew to young manhood. He spent several years living and working in several parts of the United States and Canada.

He was united in marriage to Sadie Frances Bahn of Altoona, Pennsylvania, August 5, 1913. In October 1914, they moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa. To this union one son George B. Plasterer was born. Mr. Plasterer was an active member of the Congregational church. He was an interior decorator for many years but for a number of recent years has been Eagle Grove's tax assessor.

He died Jan. 3, 1950, at the age of 69 years, 3 months, 9 days. He is survived by his wife, and son George of Waterloo, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Harry Toot, Chambersburg,; Mrs. Mary Lehman, Harrisburg, Pa.; Mrs. Paul Remmel, Chambersburg, Pa.; one brother, Howard J. Plasterer, of Shippensburg, Pa.; two grandsons, Philip and Roger Plasterer; besides other relatives and many friends.
