Times Gazette --- Eagle Grove, Iowa
August 25, 1915

Mrs. Elizabeth Treadgold passed peacefully away at her home in Eagle Grove, August 23, 1915 after four weeks gradually failing health.

Mrs. Treadgold was born in Lincolnshire, England, August 10, 1838. Fifty four years last May she was married at Grantham, England to Anthony Treadgold, who today mourns the loss of a devoted wife and constant help-mate. Seven children were born to them, one dying in infancy; Mrs. J. W. McGrath, Eagle Grove; Mrs. D. G. Filkins, Mandan, N. D.; J. W. Treadgold, Graettinger, Iowa; Mrs. C. R. Darland, Colorado Springs, Colo.; were all present and assisted in the care of their mother during her last few days. Mrs. Julia Parnham of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Chas. Treadgold of Houston, Tex. were unable to be present on account of sickness.

Mr. and Mrs. Treadgold came to the United States in 1870 and located near Morrison, Ill. In the spring of 1883, with their family, they moved to Emmetsburg, and built a home two miles from town, where they lived for fourteen years. Retiring from the farm, they built a comfortable home in town where they resided until six years ago, where they spent three years in Colorado, coming to Eagle Grove in the fall of 1911.

Altho she had passed the allotted three score and ten, she had the full use of all her faculties and took an unusual interest in the events of the day, was much pleased with the growth and improvements of our city during the short time she lived here.

Early in life, Mrs. Treadgold became a member of the Methodist church, and was a regular attendant and faithful worker as long as her strength permitted. After a life filled with usefulness of love and devotion, to her husband and children, she passed away leaving a sacred memory that time cannot dim or efface.

Services were conducted by Rev. Hart, in the absence of Rev. Van Cleave, at the home on South Commercial Avenue, on Wednesday at 2 o'clock and interment made in Rose Hill cemetery.
