Death of Oscar Christensen
Yields to long struggle with Tuberculosis About 7 o'clock Monday Morning

Oscar Christensen died at the home of his parents on North Montgomery street last Monday morning after about a six months struggle with tuberculosis. He had a severe attack of pneumonia last winter and after recovering from that disease tuberculosis set in and developed rapidly.

Last spring he went to Montana with hopes of relief but without avail and returned the first of May. He was able to walk home on his return and carry his own suitcases and was planning on going south in hopes he might be benefited by the climate in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He even felt so well that the morning he came home he was able to go out and mow the lawn. Along about noon of that day he had a hemorrhage of the lungs and was forced to his bed and was never able to leave it. He fought the disease with all the grit and determination of which he was capable and it is a wonder he was able to last as long as he did. He had been living on two glasses of milk a day for the past seven weeks and only his almost insuperable determination to get well enabled him to live as long as he did.

The funeral services will be held at the United Lutheran church at 10:30 Thursday morning Rev. Okdale having charge and the interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery. The Masonic funeral service will be given at the grave at the request of the deceased. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and the Brotherhood of American yeomen.

Oscar Christensen was 26 years of age the sixth of last February. He was born in Eagle Grove and has lived here nearly all his life. When yet a young man he entered the employ of the American Express Co., and was one of their trusted and faithful employees at the time of his death. He had worked his way up in the service of the company until he had one of the best runs the company has to offer, the express-baggage run leaving Eagle Grove in the morning and returning on the afternoon passenger.

He was a member of the United Lutheran church, the Masonic lodge and the Brotherhood of American Yeomen. He was known as capable and efficient by his employers and honest and upright among his associates. It is with genuine regret that they learn of his death and all extend the sorrowing family their heartfelt sincere sympathy.

The surviving relatives are the father, stepmother, two sisters Mrs. D. C. France, of Chicago and little Miss Bessie of Eagle Grove, two brothers, Arthur of Arnold, Nebraska and Master Nellard of Eagle Grove.
