Alice Christine Christensen Doyle
24 February 1891 ---- 20 June 1925

Alice Christene Christensen was born Feb. 24, 1891, in Remsey, [Ramsey] Fayette county, Illinois. When she was two years of age she moved with her parents to Goldfield, Iowa. Two years later they moved to Thor, Iowa, where they remained for twelve years, and where Alice got her schooling. The family then moved to Renwick, Iowa. While there Alice was converted and joined the Methodist church. After living there for six years, Alice came to Eagle Grove to work.

On May 30, 1914, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Doyle of Eagle Grove, who was a brakeman on the C. & N. W. R. R. Two children were born to this union, Roger, aged 9, and Robert, aged 7. Mrs. Doyle has been in failing health for three years. On Dec. 22, 1924, Mr. Doyle took his wife and children to Florida with the hope that his wife might receive benefit from the change of climate. She continued to fail and on March 28, 1925, they returned to Eagle Grove, where everything was done for Mrs. Doyle that loving hands could do. Realizing that the end was not far away she talked with her husband and made plans with him about their two boys.

On Saturday, June 19, 1925, Mrs. Doyle quietly passed from this life to the world beyond, having attained the age of 34 years, 3 months and 25 days. Her going is mourned by her husband and two little sons, also her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Christensen, of Rolfe, Iowa, and three sisters and six brothers. They are as follows: Mrs. C. M. Oliver of Chadron, Neb., Miss Mattie who teaches in Rembrandt, Iowa, Agnes of Rolfe, James, who is first engineer on the steamship, Calawaii, which runs between Los Angeles and Hawaii, Albert of Leola, S. D., Edwin of Amiret, Minn., Arthur, William, and Merle of Rolfe, Iowa.

Funeral services were held in the home on North Iowa avenue on Tuesday afternoon. The sermon was preached by W. G. Muhleman of the M. E. church. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.
