ELMER STOMM IN TRAGIC DEATH

Dies of Injuries Received When Auto Turns Over into Ditch East of Humboldt.

Elmer Stomm was fatally injured Thursday morning, July 31 when the auto in which he was riding turned completely over on primary road Nov 10, about five mile: east of Humboldt. Jennie Orr Rose was seriously injured but will recover.

Mr. Stomm had been visiting his mother, Mrs. Henry Broeffle [Broffle], in Eagle Grove and was on his way to his home in Omaha when the accident occurred. Stomm was cruelly hurt by the weight of the car, his chest crushed and broken and a rib pierced his lung. Farmers from nearby oats field and autoists came to their assistance and took the injured man and woman to Humboldt. The doctors there decided they could do nothing for Stomm and he was taken at once to Fort Dodge in the Duncan ambulance. He died shortly after he reached the hospital.

Mrs. Rose was able to leave the hospital after a couple of days treatment and is now at the home of her sister, Mrs. None Thorne, in Eagle Grove. Miss Anna Pettit of Omaha, who was driving the car, was thrown clear of the wreckage and escaped with minor bruises. She stated that she was unable to make the turn because the steering wheel locked.

The pall bearers were intimate friends and former associates of the deceased. They were None Thorne, Otis Thorne, Clarence Orr, Joe Prehm, and the Reisman Brothers of Omaha.

The out-of-town relatives and friends in attendance at the funeral were Manuel and Herman Reisman, Anna and Sarah Pettit, Mrs. Frank Pettit, all of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Watts, George Gordon, of Ottumwa, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Barker, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nelson, of Des Moines, Emma and Selmer Olson, of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nelson, of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Pohlman, of Mason City, and Mr. and Mrs. Grover Yoder, of Renwick.

To Mrs. Broeffle and the sorrowing relatives, the sympathy of the entire community is extended. Elmer was Mrs. Broeffle's first born, a kind, loving, obliging son, genial and generous with everybody. He not only carried insurance payable to his wife, but also to his sister, Mrs. Guy Fisher.
