Raymond Walters Funeral Held Here Wednesday
Raymond Walters, 69, a former Eagle Grove resident, died Saturday afternoon at his home in Tulsa, Okla. He and his wife, the former Dorothy Christensen of Eagle Grove, were doing some yard work at their home, when he died from a sudden heart attack. Funeral services were held in Tulsa at the Boston Ave. Methodist church at 11 o'clock Monday and the First Methodist church here Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Bernard Olson officiated and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery with military rites at the grave. Masonic services were held at the Kastler Funeral Home Tuesday evening.

Raymond (Punk) Walters was born in Eagle Grove, January 21, 1896, and his parents were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Walters. He was graduated from Eagle Grove high school in 1914. A fine musician, Raymond was employed for many years by the Middleton Music Co. here, and after military service was in business at the "Bostonia" with the late Chas. Deibler for many years.

In 1926, Mr. and Mrs Walters moved to Tulsa, Okla., and they spent several years in Lafayette, La., Hobbs, New Mexico, Seminole and Shawnee, Okla., before returning to Tulsa to make their home. He was employed in the office of the Loffland Bros. Drilling Co. Mr. Walters was a member of the Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and an active worker in the Boston Ave. Methodist church in Tulsa.

He is survived by his wife, and one brother Judge Archie Walters of Burbank, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dr. Harold Walters. Mrs. Walters was accompanied to Eagle Grove by a long time friend, Mrs. Harold Sullivan also of Tulsa. Mrs. Sullivan's husband, the late Harold Sullivan, was also formerly of Eagle Grove and the two couples had been close friends during all the years they lived in Tulsa.

Though Mr. and Mrs. Walters had made their home away from here for many years, they held fond memories of Eagle Grove and made yearly visits back home to see their relatives and old friends. Mrs. Walters is a sister of Mrs. Vernon Spellmeyer and Mrs. Millard Brown.
