Orville Glenn Phillips was born July 21, 1895 in Yale, Iowa to Orion and Dora Sebring Phillips. At an early age the family moved to Dawson where he lived until his graduation from high school. With his brother he was engaged in farming until he came to Eagle Grove in 1917 to work for the Chicago Northwestern Railway Co. He entered the army during World War I and returned to work for the railroad until he retired in November 1962.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, one brother Guy, and a sister, Erma. He was married to Marie Christensen in 1921 in Eagle Grove and they lived here most of their married life until her death in 1957. In 1962 he was married to Mrs. Wilda Stepp.
He leaves to mourn his departure besides his wife, two sons Kenneth of Memphis, Tennessee and Clifford of Villa Park, Ill.; also a daughter Esther, Mrs. Neale Barnes of Springfield, Illinois; three stepchildren, Jamie, Steve, and Cindy Stepp and eleven grandchildren. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.

Glenn Phillips Funeral Held Saturday
Glenn Phillips, 72, died Thursday, Feb. 1st following a long illness. His is survived by his wife, two sons, Kenneth of Memphis, Tenn. and Clifford of Villa Park, Ill. and one daughter, Mrs. Neale Barnes of Springfield, Ill. He is also survived by three step children, Jamie, Steve, and Cindy Stepp of Eagle Grove and eleven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in charge of Pastor O. E. Weiss. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Phillips came to Eagle Grove in 1917 to work for the Chicago and Northwestern R.R. He served in World War I and then resumed his work with the C. and N.W. and was employed by the railroad until he retired in 1962.
