Mrs. Marie Christensen Phillips born March 26, 1900 to Paul Martinsen Christensen and Anne, nee Nielsen at Aarhus, Denmark, died at her Eagle Grove home Sunday, Nov. 17 after a long illness.

At the age of four months, she came with her parents to Goldfield. About a year later, they moved to Eagle Grove. She was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church until about 1939 when she and her whole family became members of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. She married Orville Glenn Phillips Feb. 21, 1921, who survives her, as do their two sons, Kenneth Chief Petty Officer in the Naval Air Corps at Moffett Field, Calif, and Clifford of Chicago, and a daughter, Esther, Mrs H. N. Barnes of Springfield, Ill. and ten grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Carl Christensen of Eagle Grove and Leonard Christensen of St. Ansgar, and by three sisters, Mrs. Erna Arsenoff of Chicago, Caroline, Mrs. Lawrence Loux of Webster City and Miss Vera Christensen of Washington, D.C. Beside her parents a sister Jennie, preceded her in death.

Funeral services are held at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenneth R. Torvik, Pastor, Thursday, Nov. 21 at 2:00 with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery. By request of the family, the casket will not be open during nor following the service. Friends may view the remains at Kastler Funeral Home or while the body lies in state at the church Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30.
