12 November 1889 ---- 13 March 1972

Services for James M. Christensen, 82, of 1218 Forty-seventh St. will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in an Eagle Grove cemetery [Rose Hill]. Mr. Christensen died Monday in an auto accident near Salome. Ariz., while vacationing. Born in Goldfield, Mr. Christensen lived in Fort Dodge be- fore moving to Des Moines in 1936. He was a retired railroad telegrapher, a graduate of the former Highland Park College, and was a member of the Iowa Horology Society, the Masonic Lodge and the Order of Railroad Telegraphers. Horology is the science of measuring time.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Victor Swarr of Collegeville, Pa., and Marjorie of Vienna, Austria; a sister, Mrs. Clara Schillinger of Des Moines; two brothers, T. W. of Ames and Walter of Hendersonville, N.C., four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
