October 26, 1866 --- February 22, 1955

Mrs. Luella McCurry died Tuesday night in Lutheran hospital, Fort Dodge, where she had been a patient for a short time.

Mrs. McCurry has made her home for some time with her son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Henry T. Larson.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Methodist church in charge of Rev. C. H. Cox. Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mrs. McCurry is survived by her daughter Mrs. Larson, two sons Wylie McVicker of Mason City, George McVicker of Kenyon, Minn., one sister, Mrs. L. E. Wilson and one brother Fred Allen both of Eagle Grove. Other survivors include 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Luella Allen McCurry was born in Sharon, Wis., Oct. 26, 1866 daughter of Eugene A. Allen and Melvina Clapp Allen, when a child she came with her parents in a covered wagon, first living in Story County, later in Wright County where she resided for over 80 years.

She taught school, for many years and on April 8, 1886 she was united in marriage to Cassius Roswell McVicker. To this union four children were born, Mabel Larson, Cassius, Wylie of Mason City, Geo. of Kenyon, Minn. Her husband passed away Oct. 4, 1915.

On Sept. 7, 1921 she was united in marriage to James R. McCurry. He passed away on Sept. 1, 1926.

For about 10 years, due to failing health, she made her home with her son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Henry T. Larson who gave her the most loving and tender care.

Survivors include three children, Mrs. Larson, Wylie and George, 13 grand children 17 great grand children, one sister Mrs. L. E. Wilson and one brother Fred Allen. Her son Cassius passed away in 1950.

Mrs. McCurry died in Lutheran hospital, Feb. 22, 1955.

Funeral services were held Feb. 24th in the Methodist church. Rev. C. H. Cox officiated and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
