January 14, 1869 --- September 18, 1945

Osmund Ernest Hunt, son of James Hunt and Rebecca Newbrough was born at Madrid, Iowa on January 14, 1869. He came to Humboldt when about 8 years old. There he worked with his father in the grist mill at Dakota City. In his early manhood he became an expert at running threshing steam engines. This made him proficient in his work when he came to Eagle Grove to become the engineer at the light plant where he worked for sixteen years. This called for his inventive genius. He obtained patents for a turning machine and a car moving device to move the coal cars at the plant.

He was married to Mary McCombs on Feb. 3, 1897 at Hardy. To their home came Ralph, of Minneapolis; Harold of Milwaukee, and Delbert of Aberdeen.

He united with the Methodist church in May, 1908. He had a part in the building of the new church building.

There are 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

He passed away September 18, 1945.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral Home with the Rev. C. W. Tompkins in charge. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
