September 16, 1886 --- January 29, 1957

Chester A. Hunt, 70, died Tuesday afternoon at his home, 903 No. Eastern Ave., following a long illness.

Mr. Hunt had returned Monday from a Fort Dodge hospital where he was a patient for two months.

He is survived by his wife and seven children, Mrs. John Mellor of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Paul Matacio of Ottawa, Ill., Mrs. Don Howell, Goldfield; Jerry Hunt of Albert Lea Minn.; Mrs. Richard Thompson of Carlsbad, Calif., Chester Hunt Jr. and Roger Hunt of Eagle Grove.

Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Kastler Funeral Home.

Mr. Hunt’s son-in-law Paul Matacio of Ottawa, Ill., will have charge of the service, assisted by Norman Sharp of Fort Dodge. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery.

Chester Allen Hunt, the son of Thomas and Mae Hunt, was born at Polk City, Iowa on September 16, 1886 and passed away at his home in Eagle Grove Tuesday, January 29, 1957 at the age of 70 years. 4 months and 13 days. His health had been failing for the past 10 years and he had been seriously ill for the last two months.

When he was 7 years old his family moved to Ames and at the age of 32 he came to Eagle Grove. He was united in marriage to Gladys Johnson November 11, 1918 and to this union 7 children were born. Mr. Hunt had a great interest in animals and consequently spent a great share of his life as a livestock dealer.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Mrs. Gladys Hunt seven children Rosalie, Mrs. John Miller [Mellor] of Eagle Grove, Maxine, Mrs. Paul Matacio of Ottawa, Ill., Phyllis, Mrs. Donald Howell of Goldfield, Chester Jr., of Eagle Grove, Jerry of Albert Lea, Minn., Bonnie, Mrs. Dick Thompson of Carlsbad, Calif.; and Roger of Eagle Grove, also fourteen grandchildren.

He is also survived by three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Frank Coy of Ames, Mrs. Ross Sype of Anacortes, Wash., Mrs. Phil Coy of Ames, and Merle Hunt of Nevada, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Mrs. Vesta Humby of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral home in charge of Mr. Hunt's son-in-law Rev. Paul Matacio of Ottawa, Ill., assisted by Rev. Norman Sharp of Fort Dodge. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
