December 13, 1879 --- May 8, 1919

Walter W. McCarty, the son of Sarah and Lemuel McCarty, was born in Tama, Iowa, on December 13, 1879 and departed this life on May 8th, 1919. The deceased grew to manhood in the place of his birth but has been a resident of Eagle Grove for 15 years. On Sept. 23rd, 1915 he was united in marriage with Miss Ida Teufel who survives him, sustaining the loss known only by those who part with a faithful and loving husband.

The other surviving relatives are the mother, who lives at Tama and is very ill at the present time, three brothers, Bert of Thor, Irwin of Tama, and Robert of Eagle Grove, and two sisters, Mrs. Flora Dale of Ames, and Mrs. Minnie Clark of Tama. These all mourn one who was inexpressibly dear to them in the special relation which he sustained to them. The large attendance at the funeral attested eloquently to the high esteem in which Mr. McCarty was held in this community. He will be sorely missed among his large circle of friends and among his fellow employees in the railway service. The deceased was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen and of the Masonic order.

Funeral services were held from the home or his brother, Robert, on Sunday afternoon and interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery. The Masons were present in large numbers, furnished the pall hearers, and gave their beautiful burial service at the grave.
