Obituary
(By W. G. Muhleman)

Emma Maude Copp was born in Clinton, Ontario, Canada on July 16, 1882. When she was a child 10 months old, she came with her parents to Eagle Grove, Iowa, where she has since lived.

She was united in marriage to Robert M. McCarty on Oct. 3, 1900. Except three years spent in Tama, they have made their home in Eagle Grove.

Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. McCarty, Ronald I. and Gwendolyn.

Mrs. McCarty was a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church. She united with the local church in November, 1914, during the pastorate of Rev. S. M. Van Cleve.

She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the O. R. C. B. of R. T., Kings Daughters, Yeoman lodge and she was also a member of Class 16 in the Methodist Sunday school.

She has been sick for over five year. Three years ago last July she was operated on in Des Moines which gave her some relief.

She passed away at her home on May 12, 1927, at the age of 44 years, nine months and 26 days.

She is survived by her husband and the two children already mentioned; one grand child, her mother, Mrs. M. A. Warner, who has been with her during her sickness, two brothers, William and Frank Copp of Eagle Grove and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Moorcroft of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. A. R. Conner of Wesley, Iowa.

She was a faithful wife, who always attended to the every need of her husband, a mother who was deeply interested in the highest welfare of her children and a kind neighbor who was always ready to do a good turn to everybody including the stranger who came hungry to her door. It is a pleasure also to report that as a Christian in the church she was true and faithful. She attended to her religious duties in the church as long as she was able to do so. When her pastor called she always reassured him that her faith was secure in Christ. She was always glad to be read to from the Sacred Book and prayed with for she always responded with an "Amen." This faith she kept till the end. She often spoke of her husband and children whom she loved dearly. It was her great ambition to have them all Christians and live in that faith. It was her great privilege to know that both of her children had embraced the Christian faith.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church on Sunday afternoon. The sermon was preached by W. G. Muhleman. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.

Those from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. James Dale and Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Dailey of Ames, Iowa; Irvin McCarty, Mrs. A. M. Clarke and Mrs. Sarah McCarty, Tama, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Conner and family, Wesley, Iowa; Clyde Conner, Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Ella Carr and family, Kanawha, Iowa; Mrs. Ed Hall, Nelson, Ill.; Mrs. Arthur Darcy, Malta, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Middleton, Webster City, Iowa; Charles Kratoska and Sidney Armstrong, Ames, Iowa; Maybelle Danielson, Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
