DOROTHY L. SMITH
Dorothy L. Claude was born on September 13, 1928 in Clarion, the daughter of John and Elsie (Warrick) Claude. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth. On July 27, 1946, she married Lyle F. Smith, Jr., at the First Baptist Church Parsonage in Eagle Grove. The couple first made their home in Clarion, until moving to Eagle Grove early in the 1960s. Dorothy was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Dorothy L. Smith, of Eagle Grove, died Friday, December 15, 2000, at Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion at the age of 72. She is survived by a son, Lyle Smith, Jr., of Eagle Grove, daughters Carol McCutcheon and husband Kevin, of Eagle Grove, and Shirley Smith and husband Ellis of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, and a sister, Margaret Loux, of Goldfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant sons,
Donald R. and James W., and two sisters, Ruth LaRue and Gladys Evans.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 18, 2000, at 10:30 a.m., at the Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
