Larry "Pete" Peterson was born on March 1, 1942, at Eagle Grove, Iowa, the son of Charles and Mary Thorn Peterson. He grew up in Eagle Grove and attended school here, graduating in 1960. Following graduation, he began working for Umthun Trucking Company in Eagle Grove and continued there for 35 years. He was a member of the Eagle Grove Fire Department for 18 years.

Larry "Pete" Peterson died Sunday, December 10, 2000, at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa, at the age of 58. He is survived by his mother, Mary, Eagle Grove; two children, Jody Peterson of Humboldt, Iowa, and Kerry Schmanke of Homer, Neb.; two stepchildren, Richard Boll and Mellissa Boll, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandchildren, Rylie
McManigal and Brooke Boll; a sister, Linda Darland, and husband, Doug, Clarion, Iowa; three brothers, John Peterson, Eagle Grove, Tom Peterson, and wife, Denise, Eagle Grove, and Mike Peterson and Jolie Anderson, Spencer, Iowa; five nephews, Doug Darland, Don Darland, Jake Peterson,
Corey Peterson, and Luke Peterson; five great-nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Charles "Chic" Peterson, and a brother, Charles.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2000, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father David Beckman
officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, at the Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with a vigil service slated to begin at 7 p.m. Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove is in charge of arrangements.
