Richard Fry Died Wednesday Afternoon

Word was received late Wednesday of the death of Richard Fry, a long time Eagle Grove resident.

Mr. Fry died yesterday in a Cherokee hospital. No arrangements have been made, but those interested, may call the Sacquety Chapel for date and time of funeral.

Austin Fry, was born in Terre Haute, Mo., April 23, 1876 and passed away at Cherokee on Oct. 1. He was 82 years, 4 months and 8 days of age at the time of his death.

Austin Fry was known as "Dick Fry" in Eagle Grove where he has been for more than 50 years. He never married. He worked as a masons helper 22 years being in constant employ of Wm. E. Floyd of Eagle Grove and he worked for Vern McIntyre for a number of years in the cement block plant. Dick was well liked by all who knew him. For many years he was a member of Golden Links Lodge No. 68 of the I.O.O.F. A memorial service was held in his memory by the members of the local lodge.

He is survived by two brothers, William of Ottumwa and John of Lucerne, Mo., and one sister Mrs. Ray Schnelle of Pollock, Mo., two nephews and two nieces Edgar Schnelle of Pollock, Mo., Mrs. Russell Duncan of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Ruth Shaffer of Lemon, Mo., and M-Sgt. Charles E. Fry of Lincoln, Neb. Besides these there are many friends who will greatly miss “Dick."

Services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Sacquety Chapel with Rev. Roy Cox in charge. Interment made In Rose Hill cemetery.
