Adeline Rippentrop Sandman
6 September 1913 ---- 13 February 2009Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at Living Hope Community Church in Tea [South Dakota] for Adeline Sandman, who died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center. She was 95 years old. Officiating during the service was the Rev. Wayne Reed. Ardis Fischer was organist. David Friese was the soloist, accompanied by Darlene Friese. Pallbearers were Todd Sandman, Roger Sletton, Paul Sandman, Brian Sletton, Nathan Sandman, and Dean Rippentrop. Interment was in Germantown Cemetery, Chancellor.
Adeline Rippentrop was born Sept. 6, 1913 on a farm near Lennox, the daughter of John and Gertie (Bunjer) Rippentrop. On Sept. 6, 1939 she was united in marriage to Garreld Sandman at Belmond, Iowa, The couple lived in Belmond until moving to their home farm southwest of Tea in 1941. Her husband preceded her in death on May 17, 2007.
For many years Adeline had been a member of Germantown Presbyterian Church, rural Chancellor where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School and Women In the Church. Most recently she was a member of Living Hope Community Church in Tea, SD.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wessel Rippentrop on April 25, 2001 and her sister, Florence Sletten on Jan. 12, 2009. Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Gary Sandman and his wife, Gloria, of Sioux Falls, SD and Linda Plucker and her husband, Gene, of Canistota, SD; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Wilma Rippentrop of Lennox, as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
