Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Allen of Denver, Colo, were guests of Chas. Evans for the weekend. They were here to attend the funeral of Mrs. Allen's father, Ralph Foss.

Ralph Foss was born April 10, 1887, near Plainfield, Ill., where he spent his boyhood on the farm owned by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur L. Foss. While a young man, the family moved to a farm near Clear Lake, Ia., where he met and married Mabel Kimball on June 24, 1914. They resided in Mason City for the first summer of their married life, moving to Hawarden, Ia., in the fall. In 1916 they moved to Eagle Grove where their one daughter, Dorothy Jean, was born. Mrs. Foss passed away May 29, 1934.

Ralph worked as a brakeman and conductor on the Northwestern R. R. from shortly after his marriage until his retirement on December 22, 1952, at which time he moved to Denver, Colo., to be near his daughter and her family. He worked at the family store of M. L. Foss, in that city, from January of 1953 to June of 1964 and lived in his own home up until three weeks before his death. At that time he entered Asbury Circle Nursing Home where he died on July 7. Ralph had been a member of Bower Lodge No. 464 AF&AM, Eagle Grove Chapter No. 123, R.A.M. and Medina Council No. 26, R. & S.M. in Eagle Grove, retaining his membership there even after moving to Denver.

He is survived by his daughter and three granddaughters of Denver.

A brother, Julian, and a sister, Carrie, preceded him in death.
