Walter Flower funeral Friday

Walter S. Flower, 82, died Tuesday afternoon at Trinity West Hospital where he was a patient for about a month. He has been seriously ill for many months and had, had surgery and was previously in hospitals.

Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the United Methodist Church. Rev. George Den Hartog, pastor of the Methodist Church, Goldfield, will officiate.

Mr. Flower was a long time Eagle Grove businessman. He had been in the grocery business, also electrical appliance business many years ago. Of late years he was a building contractor.

He is survived by his wife, three step-sons and two step-daughters, Floyd Larsen of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Robert and Lewis A. Larsen of Eagle Grove; Mrs. Dwight Bisbey of Mason City; and Mrs. Charles Ingalls of Bancroft.

Walter Scott Flower was born June 13, 1893 at Eagle Grove, the son of William Scott and Mary Nelson Flower.

He received his education in the Eagle Grove Public Schools.

Mr. Flower was engaged in numerous business endeavors, among these was building and remodeling of homes in Eagle Grove. He was quite active until a short time before his illness in January of 1974, even though he had been semi-retired since 1948.

He died at the Trinity West Hospital, Fort Dodge, on Tuesday, April 15, at the age of 81 years, 10 months, and 2 days.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie, three step-sons, Floyd Larsen, Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Robert Larsen, Eagle Grove, Lewis Larsen, Eagle Grove; two step-daughters, Joyce, Mrs. Dwight Bisbey, Mason City; Norma, Mrs. Charles Ingalls, Bancroft; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, William and Paul; and three sisters, Mrs. Julia Mead, Mrs. Myrtle Opheim, and Mrs. Rhoda Wadell.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 18, at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. Pastor George W. Den Hartog officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
