Cora Elizabeth McDonald was born March 10, 1880 on a farm near Woolstock, Wright County to parents, Abner and Abbie McDonald.

She moved to Eagle Grove at the age of five, when her parents came here to make their home.

She attended the Eagle Grove schools and before her marriage taught in Wright county schools and worked in the printing office in Eagle Grove. She was married to William Floyd Feb. 19, 1902 and they had lived in the same Eagle Grove location all their married lives.

Having no family of their own, they look into their home Beth McVicker when her mother died in 1918 when Beth was 13 months old. They legally adopted her and raised Beth as their own daughter.

Mrs. Floyd has been ill more than 20 years, and has been totally blind most of that time. In the hopes of arresting diabetes, one of her legs was amputated 11 years ago, and 5 years ago it was necessary to amputate her other leg. Since that time she had been bedfast.

In all the years of her illness, Mrs. Floyd had maintained a remarkably cheerful attitude, and was an inspiration to her many friends and neighbors who have called and visited her through the years.

She is survived by her husband, William, her daughter Beth, Mrs. James Rogers, three grandsons, Floyd James Rogers of Hollywood, Calif.; John William and Robert Claude Rogers at home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and three brothers.

Mrs. Floyd died at 10:20 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 at her home. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at First Methodist church, Eagle Grove, Rev. Lyle W. Lieder officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
