Josie Irene Kepler was born Jan. 11, 1876, in Kewanee, Ill. At the age of 6 she moved to Hamilton county and during her early girlhood moved to Wright county. She was married to William Evans on Feb. 20th, 1897, and they farmed in Hamilton county for three years, then moving to Wright county where they built and maintained their home thereafter. Mr. and Mrs. Evans farmed east of Eagle Grove for many years, then moved to Eagle Grove where they resided for a few years, returning to the farm for a short period. In 1946 they returned to their town home, where this past February they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Evans became the parents of three daughters, Tressle Goranson of Winchester, Va., and Vera Hanson, now deceased, and Doris Kelly of St. Paul, Minn. Mrs. Evans is also survived by three grandchildren, Evan Hanson of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jaris Lynn Kelly, and Mary Josephine Kelly of St. Paul, also two sisters, Mrs. John Butz of this city, Mrs. Walt Pletcher of Florence, and one brother Cecil Kepler of this city.
