Funeral Wednesday for Mrs. Fred Cotton

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Cotton, 86, were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home. Rev. Emmett Braselton officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Cotton died Sunday evening at the Rotary Ann Home where she was an infirmary patient for a few weeks.

Her husband died in July of 1973, and since that time she had been in failing health. Mrs. Cotton is survived by one sister, Mrs. Frank Hall.

Mrs. Cotton was a member of the Congregational Church and for many years was the choir director. She was a charter member of the Cecilian Music Club, and maintained membership until her health began to fail, and she was unable to attend the meetings.

Mrs. Cotton's maiden name was Fannie Belle Bandy and she was born in Livermore, and moved to Eagle Grove with her mother and sister in 1897. She was employed in Eagle Grove at Duer’s Department Store and was married to Fred Cotton in 1911, and they resided here all of their married life. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Wm. Boylson.

Obituary

Fannie Belle Bandy was born November 22, 1887, at Livermore, Ia., the daughter of Harry and Margaret Elizabeth Bandy Boylson.

The family moved to Eagle Grove, and Fannie attended the Eagle Grove schools.

She was united in marriage to Fred A. Cotton of Eagle Grove on June 14, 1911, at Eagle Grove. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove and were living here at the time of Mr. Cotton's death in 1973.

Mrs. Cotton continued to live at her home. She entered the Rotary Ann Home in January of 1974. She passed away on Sunday, March 3, at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 11 days.

She is survived by one sister (Vina) Mrs. Frank Hall, Eagle Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ, a charter member of the Cecilian Music Club, and choir director of the Congregational Church for many years.

Funeral services were held on March 6 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home. Rev. Emmett Braselton officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
