16 April 1897 --- 12 October 1915

Oristus A. Rounds was born at Boone, Iowa, April 16, 1897, and died October 12, 1915, at 6:55 p. m., aged 18 years, 5 months and 26 days.

He was of a quiet retiring disposition, but made many friends and held them. It is scarcely two years since the beloved father of the home died. He felt the responsibility of doing all he could to help bear the home burdens. Between the school terms he worked for Mr. A. H. Waddell and was highly esteemed, for his industry and faithfulness. He had not been feeling well for a few days but thought little of it till he was compelled to quit work and send for a physician. The disease was pronounced typhoid fever. All that skill and loving faithful care could do was given to save the precious life. Complications of heart trouble developed and at the close of a week's sickness the end came suddenly.

He leaves a loving mother, two sisters, two brothers and, a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn their great loss. The funeral was at the Baptist church, Rev. G. L. Hart preaching the sermon.

Those attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Chrissman, Mrs. Jesse Landes, and Morgan Walton of Whitten, Iowa; Mrs. Lawrence Oliver of Jeffers, Minn., Mrs. John Ashburn of Tilden, Neb.
